One Day Makeovers

Living Room

Before
Movers placed the furnishings for this busy professional 3 months ago. The homeowner complained of feeling overwhelmed with unpacking and did not feel at home.
  After
Now the arrangement is attractive and the homeowner is looking forward to relaxing and entertaining in her new home.

Before
Seating was predictably arranged around the perimeter of the space, there was a lack of lighting and tables, the rug did not seem large enough for the space, and the homeowner wanted a change on the mantle.
  After
The seating is now in a more intimate and interesting arrangement and the rug pulls it together. A coffee table and lamps were brought in from other areas of the home, and the mantle, tables, and bookcases are now more visually pleasing.

Before
These homeowners complained that they had re-arranged the room many times and could never get it to feel comfortable. They were unhappy with the current arrangement because the back of the sofa blocked the visual entrance into the room.
  After
The furniture and rug are placed at an angle that seems more welcoming and inviting. A serving cart was brought in from another room to serve as a sofa console table to add interest and a place for additional ambient lighting. Accessories are creatively placed throughout the room for a more decorative effect.

Before
The large sofa is blocking the attractive view onto the backyard deck, the seating arrangement is too far apart for comfortable conversation, and the seating, accessories, and small rugs seem randomly scattered.
  After
The furniture is pulled into a more conversational grouping and unified by a larger rug. The sofa no longer blocks the window and now allows for enjoyable views of the window as well as of their tv and fireplace. Artwork is pleasantly grouped and accessories are creatively displayed.

Bedroom

Before
The room lacked color, accessories, and visual interest.
  After
A golden color was chosen for the walls and coordinated bedding and window treatments add more color and texture. Lamps and accessories were brought in from other areas of the home and a new chair and ottoman were added. The result is an updated, warm and inviting bedroom retreat.

Decorating Consultation

Before
The homeowners had lived in this home seven years and now wanted to redecorate. They asked for professional help with making choices to suit their personal taste and work within their budget.
  After
Decorating consultation has helped the homeowners transform the room into the beautiful living space they desired. Paint color, new flooring, area rug, furniture, accessories and draperies were all chosen to make a dramatic difference.

Real Estate Enhancement

Before
The back of the chair blocks the welcome into the main living area and draws attention away from the fireplace as a focal point. The scale and assortment of accessories on the mantle detract from the impact of the fireplace as a selling feature.
  After
The funiture arrangement is more open and welcoming and leads the eye to the fireplace and the outdoors. The single, more dramatic accessory now draws attention to the fireplace as an attractive feature.

Before
This potentially cozy area on the opposite end of the living area was left unused. The homeowners felt it was wasted space and had tried unsuccessfully to place furniture in it.
  After
Now a potential buyer will see the space as a cozy spot to sit and chat or read.

Before
The front entry area is plain and draws attention to the cluttered appearance of the many items on the bookcase and mantle.
  After
Artwork and greenery were arranged for a more inviting first impression. Now the view into the living area is pleasant and the focus is drawn to the fireplace as a selling feature.

Before
The entry hall view into the living area is blocked by the sofa. This arrangement is unwelcoming, lacks color, and distracts attention from the window as an asset.
  After
Now the entry is inviting and greenery adds color and life. The furniture arrangement visually draws the eye toward the window views.
